HAMPTON BAYS - Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge.?
Kidd appeared Tuesday morning in Southampton Town Court, where he was placed on interim probation until he speaks to two Suffolk schools about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The former Knick was arrested on July 15, 2012 after Southampton police say he smashed his Cadillac SUV into a telephone pole in the hamlet of Water Mill. Kidd admitted in court that he had three to four drinks of tequila before the incident.

Suffolk County District Attorney Tom Spota says Kidd has been very cooperative, is not getting off easy and will use his mistake to teach teenagers and young adults across the Island.
However, Mothers Against Drunk Driving worries Kidd?s message might be compromised if kids are star-struck by him.
Once Kidd speaks to the schools, which have not been selected yet, he may be able to change his plea down to driving while impaired. Kidd's license remains suspended.
