Regional filmmaking: Set in Boonville; filmed around Troost ...

Tatum O'Neal came to Boonville, Mo., to film "Saving Grace B. Jones."

Remember a few years ago when actress Connie Stevens was filming her directorial debut in Boonville, Mo.?

That movie, ?Saving Grace B. Jones,? is ready for the big screen; it opens at the Screenland Crossroads on Dec. 14. Michael Biehn and Penelope Ann Miller play a couple who take in a traumatized girl as well as a relative (Tatum O?Neal) who has been living in an insane asylum.KC filmmakingMeanwhile, at 7:30 tonight at the Screenland Crossroads, you can catch the documentary ?We Are Superman,? a look at the transformation of Kansas City?s historic dividing line, Troost Avenue. The film details the work of regular ?superheroes? who are turning the neighborhood into a community. See screenland.com.Sneak peekThe documentary ?Age of Champions? is set to air on PBS next year, but you can watch it early and meet filmmaker Keith Ochwat at a free screening at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Glenwood Arts. The film tells the story of five competitors in the National Senior Olympics, including a 100- year-old tennis champ and 86-year-old pole vaulter.?Hobbit? overloadGet ready for next week?s opening of ?The Hobbit? by watching all three of Peter Jackson?s ?Lord of the Rings? films back-to-back on Saturday.
